We are happy to announce the winning t-shirt designs for the WeLoveFine Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Design Contest!
Back in January, we launched a design contest in conjunction with WeLoveFine to celebrate the announcement of the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. Artists were encouraged to create designs based on their favorite characters and elements of Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. It was a big success with almost 200 designs submitted to the contest!
The winning artist, Timothy Lim, is being awarded with a trip to Gearbox and some awesome swag for his winning design, “Deathtrap Arigato.”
Tim’s design, along with the other six winners, are all available for purchase now at WeLoveFine.com. Check out their art along with all of the other amazing designs submitted by the awesome community!
Ever since the GameSpy multiplayer services that powered Borderlands 1 were interrupted, we've been working to restore multiplayer functionality to Borderlands 1 on PlayStation 3. Now, we're happy to announce that multiplayer will be restored to Borderlands 1 on PS3 today in both North America and Europe (and Japan is coming soon!).
Upon launching Borderlands 1 on PS3, you'll be prompted to download an update that enables the new matchmaking system. This update also contains a few other changes:
- Within Borderlands multiplayer, you can sort your friends list in a few different ways:
- Who is playing Borderlands
- Who is online
- Alphabetical order
- The “And They’ll Tell Two Friends” Trophy will now grant correctly
- Improvements to voice chat
Note that if your save was previously stored in the cloud instead of on your PlayStation 3 hard drive, some settings such as screen brightness, Y-Axis invert, etc. may need to be reset.
If you have any trouble, visit http://support.gearbox.com.
Thanks to everyone for your patience as we worked to find a solution, and special thanks to the folks at 22nd Century Toys for helping to make this happen!
In case you missed it, this update follows an earlier update that restored multiplayer for Borderlands 1 on PC.
Last month, we posted an open survey to find out the community's favorite Borderlands characters. The surveys have been tallied, and the results are in! Your top three Borderlands characters (in no particular order) are...

There's no lack of vivid characters in the Borderlands games, from an annoying (but sometimes lovable) robot to a megalomaniac corporate CEO. Whether it's a deluxe character statue, a cosplay reference guide, or a limited-edition art print, we're always looking to find new ways to bring our characters to life outside of their games.
That's where you come in! Now that we've launched Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, it's time to find out the community's new favorite characters. Let us know who you think we should focus our future efforts on in this Borderlands Character Survey!
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is now available to pre-purchase on Steam, among other digital retailers! Those who already own Borderlands or Borderlands 2 will also receive a 10% discount by pre-purchasing on Steam before August 25.
But wait, there's more! All pre-ordered copies of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel come with action packed bonus content, the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit!
Now is also a great opportunity to recruit new Vault Hunters to your cause, as Borderlands 2 is FREE TO PLAY (!!) on Steam now through 1PM PST on Sunday, August 24. And if all that wasn't enough, Borderlands titles and add-ons, including Borderlands 2 Game of the Year, are now up to 75% off on Steam as part of the 2K Publisher Weekend.
TL;DR: There's a lot of really awesome Borderlands stuff going down on Steam now through August 25.

Hi! I’m Jeff Broome. I’ve been a programmer here at Gearbox for 11 years. On our forum, I’m known as “botman”, and I’m here to tell you about a hobby of mine that makes use of the assets from some of the games that Gearbox has released. My hobby is making papercraft models from game assets. When I was a boy, my older brother and I loved to build models. We built model cars, model planes, and even model rockets which we would launch into the air from a field near our house. I’ve always loved working with computers and I’ve always loved working with my hands building things, so making papercraft models gives me a way to do both.
Papercraft models are created by printing out designs on sheets of paper, cutting them out, folding the pieces and gluing them together. It’s an inexpensive way to create your own models. There are some very simple and easy to assemble papercraft models for a novice builder and there are some that are much more intricate and time consuming for the more advanced builder. It doesn’t take a lot of skill or tools to get started and you can build something to keep forever that you can be proud of. When you become more familiar with the tools used to create papercraft models you can create your own designs. The only limit is your imagination and the time it takes to build the model. READ MORE...
